Schenectady Labs takes its name and inspiration from a city where engineering helped change the world.
Curiosity, brought into the workshop.
In 1900, General Electric established its research laboratory in Schenectady. GE’s account describes its beginnings in a barn behind Charles Steinmetz’s home: a place where scientific inquiry and industrial problems could meet.
The city’s electrical and manufacturing history offers an enduring example of research connected to practical work. For us, that is an inspiration and a responsibility to be precise.

Schenectady Labs is a Libra5 research and invention endeavor. MOM-Z14 is its internal frontier R&D and invention program.
We admire the ambition of industrial research institutions such as Bell Labs, Skunk Works, and GE Research. These are references for an approach to inquiry and engineering, not affiliations, endorsements, or a claim of legal or organizational succession.
Schenectady Labs does not claim GE’s history, facilities, inventions, staff, or founding date as its own.
